 Lilith chuckled softly to herself at the overzealous messenger's antics. "I believe you said your name was Mestel, correct," she queried, falling into step beside him.   
"Y-Yes, ma'am..."   
Lilith allowed herself a giggle (the loudest she had laughed in quite some time). "Are you frightened of me?"   
"No," he said hurriedly. "I just... I... What I mean, is..."   
"Perhaps you should be," she said softly. "I'm more dangerous than most people give me credit for." She paused, then said, a little louder, "I like you, though. I don't think I would kill you. You're safe." &nbs Eris:5.1 The Unraveling Thread

Daltin hid his surprise well. It was a talent he was skilled at. Just another perk of being an officer in the military.   
Nonetheless, he was surprised.   
The Empire held few alliances and warred very little outside its own boundaries but rumor had come of a black, evil man named Kartan.   
Of course the man could be lying, but Daltin had no real reason to doubt him. Why would a man brag of his defeat? In any case, Daltin's dislike of the man Torris, he could not bring himself to think of the man as Kartan yet, deepened.   
Even so, if the man was not lying, then he could pr Eris: 4.5

I could not understand why Torris needed menions to fight alongside of him. But something told me he would not rest until he got his way one way or another.   
"Surely a man like you," I chimed in catching Torris' attention, "so heavily armed and armored and with a desire to lead a group, must have experience in wars as some sort of captain or commander."   
I turned to Daltin, who still held a slightly angry look on his face. "Perhaps he could be in charge of his own group on the battlefield then? I suppose, though, you don't have the right to decide that on your own."

Vaun replaced his helmet atop his head twisting it until he heard the clock that locked it to his armor. He turned to follow the stranger.   
"You had best not be playing with me. For though you know nothing of me, I know enough about this war that the gain of the warriors I can bring would help your cause tremendously. Prisoners mean nothing to the victor, especially only a dozen."   
He paused, and then added, so the man would have no doubts as to what he had planned.   
"You seem to care for these prisoners you hold...why would you care if I killed a dozen and sacrificed Eris: 4.3
